An armed robber burst into a Northeast Philadelphia KFC last month hoping for a big score, but he forgot to account for one particular detail — the back door.

As a result, restaurant employees were able to escape the heist unharmed, while the unknown gunman was forced to flee empty handed.

The crime occurred at about 6:50 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 9201 Roosevelt Blvd., police said. Surveillance cameras filmed the masked crook as he entered the front doors of the business, approached the cashier’s counter with gun drawn and demanded money.

Multiple employees bolted toward the kitchen and through the back door, leaving the dumbfounded gunman alone in the restaurant. He turned and fled through the front doors in an unknown direction.

Police described the robber as white, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 200 pounds. He wore a black and white bandanna over the lower portion of his face, as well as a dark or gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants. He carried a black handgun.
